About the Role:Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: NBIX) is offering the opportunity to gain research experience in the world of biotechnology. As part of the research department, our intern program offers exposure to drug discovery for CNS diseases. The Neuroimmunology team has a strong reputation in the industry for identifying novel therapies for neurodegenerative diseases and modulation of inflammatory mechanisms in the CNS.

**Note: this is a part-time, year-long internship**Your Contributions (include, but not limited to):Supporting a range of activities, including running cell-based assays, and using a broad range of cell and molecular biology tools, as well as biochemistry to analyze drug responses in neuronal and glial cells
Assist in routine lab operations (reagent preparation, cell culture, etc.)
Learn/use basic wet lab techniques such as: Lab bench skills, data integrity and quality, good lab and safety practices, Electronic Lab Notebook documentation, the designing, planning, and executing of experiments; data analysis, visualization
Interacting and collaborating with other research areas within the company
Leading a small project, analyzing the data, presenting the recommendations to senior management upon completion
Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree with an interest in biotechnology
Specific degree or field required: Neuroscience, Immunology, Molecular and Cell biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or related field
Must be able to work between 15 - 30 hours a week all year-long (not including breaks) and full-time over the summer
Interest in keeping the position for more than a year
Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry would be an asset but is not required
Familiarity with biopharmaceutical technologies, physical and life sciences, product development, and regulatory approval processes is desirable
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to think creatively and be a team player
Offer flexibility with a willingness to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Bring to the Company a skill set complementary to its technology and development therapeutics
Interest in attending various program events, including social gatherings, career development workshops, and more
