Scope:
The incumbent will successfully aid in developing and execute strategic merchandising recommendations and tactical implementation to support the business plan for the assigned client(s). Position has a direct influence on achieving budget goals and future volume and profit growth of the business through the identification of assortment opportunities, analysis of client business and competition, and coordination of pricing.
Essential Job Functions:
The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Assist the Global Brands Merchandise Manager in developing assortment offering for assigned clients(s) in a manner which ensures both the client's and Petco Global Brands goals and objectives are strategically and tactically aligned to both differentiate Petco from the competition, as well as deliver on Petco's customer value proposition of exceeding customer expectations and financial budgets
- Consult relevant market research on client and competition in a client's trading area/channel/category
- Assist with maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Petco Owned Brands product ranges, features, benefits and how they differentiate from competition
- Prepare analyze and provide sales reporting and insights for assigned clients.
- Make recommendations resulting from such analysis to the Global Brands Merchandise Manager.
- Prepare pricing files, product content and imagery to prepare products for launch with assigned clients.
- Coordinate internal materials for sharing with clients (assets, collateral, files, etc).
- Assist team to procure and manage product samples for meetings, annual shows and assigned clients.
- Analyze clients' existing assortment and performance to identify opportunities for Petco Owned Brand recommendations
- Assist in creating compelling visual representations of the recommended product/category assortment for client presentations using JDA Space Planning
- Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with emphasis on company interests.
- Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required, assigned and directed.
Nature of Supervision:
This position is expected to independently make decisions that align with the business objectives. They will be provided with general direction from their manager, but must be self-motivated and develop strategies and plans to drive the business forward.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no direct reports.
Skills and Qualifications:
Normally requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in business, merchandising, marketing or related curriculum. Requires 1-3 years professional-level merchandising experience in a superstore, mass market or specialty national or large regional, multi-unit retail chain store or account or product management with a large national consumer brand.
Specific functional experience may include:
- Merchandising, product assortment, and vendor negotiations.
- business acumen and analytical skills necessary for proper financial modeling of assigned clients(s).
- Must have advanced computer skills, including MS Office Suite and the aptitude to learn and utilize new internal applications.
- Experience with JDA Space Planning is desirable but not required.
- Competency and continued development in the following areas:
- Provide exceptional customer service to a portfolio of clients of various global locations, types and sizes of businesses
- Communicate expertly with a diverse set of internal partners and external clients at various levels and within various functional areas that impact their businesses
- Multi-task and shift focus from one task to another seamlessly
- Identify and seize upon opportunities to maximize sales and profitability
Work Environment:
Operates in a standard office environment. The majority of job duties are performed while seated indoors with little or no exposure to hazards. Day and overnight travel for client meetings may be required periodically throughout the year.

Primary interaction will occur internally with partners on Petco Global Brands, Owned Brands, Global Sourcing, and Merchandising teams, and externally with Client teams

The pay ranges outlined below are presented in accordance with state-specific regulations. These ranges may differ in other areas and could be subject to variation based on regulatory minimum wage requirements. Actual pay rates will depend on factors such as position, location, level of experience, and applicable state or local minimum wage laws. If the regulatory minimum wage exceeds the minimum indicated in the pay range below, the regulatory minimum wage will be the minimum rate applied.
$55,800.00 - $83,800.00/ year
