Position description

The Department of Family Medicine at UC San Diego (familymedicine.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and invites applications for one or more faculty positions in the areas of clinical care.

The Department of Family Medicine has approximately 250+ personnel including 85 salaried faculty and Management and Senior Professional (MSP) physicians and 82 core and affiliated trainees, residents, and fellows. Under the leadership of the Interim Chair, the Department is currently undergoing significant strategic planning efforts. This includes the management, strategic growth, and improvement of four faculty practices focused on value-based care and innovative care models across Family Medicine, Sports Medicine, Behavioral Health, and the Centers for Integrative Medicine (CIM).

We invite applications for one or more faculty positions from those interested in an academic career in the following two areas:
1) The practice of full spectrum osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) and teaching of medical students and residents. Clinical responsibilities may include care in both inpatient and outpatient settings depending on Department needs.
2) The practice of full spectrum Naturopathic Medicine (NM) and teaching of medical students and residents. Clinical responsibilities include care in the outpatient setting depending on the Department's need.

These positions are junior to mid-career faculty appointments and will be in the Centers for Integrative Health (CIH) in the Department of Family Medicine. The CIH serves patients throughout UCSD Health. This faculty position will be comprised of direct patient care across select faculty primary care offices and inpatient units throughout UCSD Health, teaching medical students and residents, and practice-based research and other scholarly activity. Proportions of these activities will be determined by faculty interest and funding availability.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience. Position may be full-time or part-time subject to funding and programmatic need.
