Postdoctoral position – Onco-immunological factors associated with oropharyngeal cancers

Description:

A 4-year postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Goepfert/Bansal laboratory in the Department of Medicine/Infectious Diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham to study T cell immunology in relation to HPV associated oropharyngeal cancer (OPC).  The position will support NIH-funded research to understand the molecular and cellular cross talk between HIV and HPV leading to development of OPC. Advanced methodologies, including high-throughput single cell resolution such as spatial transcriptomics/proteomic techniques and 3D based organoid model using tonsillar and OPC samples will be central to the research investigations.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a recently obtained PhD in immunology, cancer biology or virology with a preferred strong background in flow cytometry and bioinformatics and a working knowledge in molecular biology based assays. Strong oral/written communication skills and at least one peer-reviewed first author publication required.
