Job Summary

The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Michigan, invite applications for a LEO Lecturer I in Vietnamese Language for the Winter 2025 Term. This appointment is scheduled to begin on January 5, 2025.

Responsibilities*

Responsibilities include instruction at any assigned level of Vietnamese classes and active involvement in teamwork and program affairs. Appointment level will be 33%. This is a renewable one-term appointment.

Required Qualifications*

Applicants should have Superior level proficiency in Vietnamese and English. Experience with teaching Vietnamese at the post-secondary level is required. Applicants must have a demonstrated understanding of and ability to use a proficiency-based, communicative methodology in language instruction. Minimum of a Master's degree in foreign language teaching or equivalent field required. 

The selection criteria used for this search is based on how the applicant's education and experience meets the required minimum qualifications for the position. Excellence in teaching and instruction will be the principal criteria used to select the successful candidate.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
